    Hi guys!

Denil, you’re right. Phones like Hero, Legend, Wildfire..etc (check the list above) don’t support live wallpapers, even if you upgrade it to Android 2.1

The only way to run live wallpapers on these phones is to root it. Rooting can be dangerous task for your phone if you’re not sure what you’re doing.

See here what does it mean:

  16. Vasquez says:

The only way to get Live Wallpaper for HTC Wildfire is to root it. There are several ways and guides to do it, but it wont work until a new Firmware is ready for HTC Wildfire.

    check this link here:

They are the developers for rooting android systems.

I too have a HTC Wildfire.. and is fed up of trying running live wallpapers on it.. I think it is because of the screen resolution.. It is very small.. It is running on Wilfires S.. Rooting the phone may help..

Hi, I have just purchased the HTC Wildfire S and it does have live wallpapers on it as standard! There are about 4 or 5 different ones and I have tried each one and they work great on my phone with no problems at all. Havent tried downloading any new one’s yet so that may be a different matter.

But I didnt just get this phone for live wallpapers. This phone is a great all rounder entertainment system !

Maybe its just the earlier versions of the HTC Wildfire that has issues with the Live Wallpapers?

  20. Vijay says:

I’m new in using the smartphones. I’ve tried to install the live wallpapers in HTC Wildfire but it gives an error framework should be upgraded to run the wallpaper. Any help……..

  21. jay says:

rooting indeed helps and it helps a lot. more than 90% of aftermarket roms that require rooting to install supports live wallpaper. its your choice. im pretty happy with root and live wallpaper. it even runs on the latest android 2.3.3.

    check out this link:

2 files you can try installing for live wallpaper support (not guaranteed to work):

I too have a htc wildfire , it’s (2.2.1) and i thought that live wallpapers would work , but it didn’t but a friend of mine told me that you have to updated to 2.3 , and i don’t now how he did it because a lot o users say there isn’t one for the wildfire – live wallpapers still is a myth working on the wildfire , or you can do it and maybe it will work , or you just might fu*k it up so keep it as it is or if you want so badly just a wallpaper that moves by a new 600 euro or dollars phone

  23. jingles says:

i have a htc wildfire and i can buy a live wallpaper but afterwards i can not find it on my phone.
    where can i find it?

  24. Steve dug says:

Are ppl just lazy or stupid on the simple fact That the option For lives wallpapers On wildfire stock roms up to 2.2.1 is not available. You must root your phone as explained above with cynogen mod 7 … case closed. Saying That if you can read forums then fforget reading instructions on rooting.

  25. Shyam says:

Will my wildfire ever run live wall paper?
    I have upgraded to 2.2.1.

  26. Min says:

so can my wildfire support live wallpaper if it upgraded to version 2.3?

  27. archie says:

how can i upgrade my htc 2.2 to 2.3

  28. bjgf says:

WTF is wrong with some of you. do your research before you aimlessly comment and fill this up with duplicate questions instead of it being pure information. There is no update for wildfire to 2.3 and i doubt there ever will. NO you cant have live wallpapers on your wildfire without rooting it. if you bought a live wallpaper on a wildfire your stupid because its a waste of money due to the fact that a HTC WILDFIRE DOES NOT SUPPORT LIVE WALLPAPERS!

I am one of you people suffering from this same problem.. 🙁 i just need to know how i can root my phone…if thats theonly way to run live wallpaper il do it..

  32. Dharun says:

hello there. i know that live wallpapers are not compatible with the wildfire, but i have found some that do! its available on the android market. there is an app tha you can download but they only work on the lockscreen. this is how you do it:

Step 1: Install ‘Go Launcher EX’ from the market.
Step 2: Now install ‘Go Locker’ which is a plugin.
Step 3: Open go locker by using ‘Go Launcher EX’ from the menu by pressing the menu buttons.
Step 4: Download these themes : ‘Happy New Year theme’, ‘BloodySweet theme’, ‘3d Worm theme’, ‘Dark theme’ and ‘Fishpond theme’.
Step 5: Now open the settings of ‘Go Locker’ and press ‘Enable’.
Step 6: Tap on ‘My themes’ (just underneath the Enable option) and select one of the themes that you have installed.
Step 7: Now you can press the lock button on your phone. Wait for about 10 seconds and press the lock button and there you are! A working live wallpaper.
(It MAY lag a bit because of the phone’s slow processor but overall it works.
Hope this works for you 🙂
