Recently, we’ve received a lot of questions and complaints from our visitors regarding their smartphones and live wallpapers support. In the meantime, we’ve done our own research and now we are providing you with the list of supporting and non-supporting smartphones. Here’s the list of “complicated” models too. This article is the resource for all the people who don’t know if their smartphones support live wallpapers or not. We will try to keep it up-to-date.
Supporting smartphones
First condition to run live wallpapers is to have a smartphone based on Android platform, version 2.1 (Eclair) or above. Even that doesn’t mean you will be able to run live wallpapers. Here is the list of smartphones currently supporting live wallpapers:
Notice: Even if you find your device on this list, it does NOT mean that it will support every single wallpaper! Live wallpapers, like any other Android apps, can have hardware, version, country or any other limitations.

Non-supporting smartphones
Some smartphones don’t support live wallpapers though they are based on Android 2.1 or above. Here is the list of these smartphones. This list doesn’t contain models based on an older versions of Android. If your model doesn’t support live wallpapers, you’ll not be able to find any of them on the market. Also, if your smartphone isn’t on this list and should be, please leave us a comment and we will add it in our next update.

After extensive research, we realized that the question of live wallpaper support is not that easy at all. For android smartphones listed below, we can’t say for sure if they support live wallpapers or not, do you need to upgrade Android version or to root your phone first. I have the moto boost mobile I1 and it should come out with the updated for the phone and it should come out with the live wallpaper also does anyone knows when there going to be a an updated foe this particular phone.
I just got an I1 myself and from what I have found there will be no update available for this phone. We as the IDEN users of the world get screwed once again. I love the phone, but moto needs better customer care for those of us that continue to spend money on their products.

I just bought a Garmin Asus A50 Phone and updated it from Android 1.6 to 2.1. Now, It does not support Live Wallpaper.
Can you give an advice that how to update it to support Live Wallpaper.

MT4G supports live wallpaper. How do I know? Some come pre-loaded.

this is exactly the same problem that I am having. When I try to research it though, everything that I read says that it is supported. I’m glad to know that someone else is experiencing the same difficulty as me, I don’t feel so stupid now!
can you guys make these live wallpapers available for the nokia n8??? the nokia n8 supports live wallpapers but I cant find them anywhere….

unfortunately Nokia n8 runs on Symbian while live wallpapers are made for Android only..

I installed the LOCK app on my Android phone (LG) and blocked the login to the phone by entering 3times the wrong graphical password. How can I reset the password in the LOCK app or how can I uninstall the app?
For the moment I can’t login anymore to my phone!

you need to contact developer of that app. I don’t know anything about that app, so try contacting Android market for that issue…

Hi I have samsung acclaim for andriod and I had 2.1 at first which didn’t support live wallpaper but I updated itto 2.2 froyo but it still doesn’t support kind of a let down but oh well is there a way for developers of upddates to include live wallpaper support

No, live wallpapers are apps made for Android only. Blackberry devices are based on their own mobile operating system.

Well, that doesn’t appear to be true. I was able to find one on the market and successfully install it, only to discover I can’t run it. My phone is on your “non-supporting” list (HTC myTouch 3G).
I restarted the Thrive again after a few hours and restarted the Thunderstorm. It works. BEAUTIFUL. NICE WORK.
